For the first time since launching its inaugural esports event in 2020, the IIHF is back with an all new esports competition: The 2022 IIHF eWorld Championship! 

As part of the IIHF’s goal to create more opportunities for esports players to represent their country in official IIHF esports ice hockey competitions, the IIHF has expanded the number of competing nations from 16 to 22, with more to come in the future. The 2022 IIHF eWorld Championship follows up on the successful IIHF esports pilot project – the IIHF Esport Fan Championship – held in 2020 and won by Team Finland. This year, the tournament field will be increased with players representation countries from North America, Europe and Asia participating. 

With the first IIHF eWorld Championship set to launch in June, and the IIHF’s introduction of women’s national teams, this is just the beginning…
