Germany will compete at the IIHF eWorld Championship 2022 with two of their star players as 'Cpt_DirtyDangler' and 'Kevinator-373' have now qualified.

The last time the two Germans played in an IIHF eSport event, their road ended at the hands of the dominant Finns in the quarter-finals at the IIHF Esports Fan Championship 2020. At 8-19, the German duo competed well, but ultimately it was not enough to enter the semi-finals.Two years later, they will aim to reach the Final Four, and maybe win their country’s first IIHF eWorld Championship..

'Cpt_DirtyDangler' with 8-0 into the semi-finals

The online qualifier on PlayStation was won by Luca 'Cpt_DirtyDangler' Knoll, who also represents Eisbären Berlin in the eDEL.

In the first round 'Cpt_DirtyDangler' played against Dominik 'DangledByADuck' Hoffmann, the 3-1 meant the first success and the advancement. A close 1-0 against Linus 'Leodalton' Baumann and a clear 8-0 against Christoph 'helmich8' Helmich made his way the semi-finals.

There Alex 'IDangledYouOut' Wagner waited as the last opponent before the finals, at 4-1 'Cpt_DirtyDangler' could once again prove his skills in NHL™ 22. So he played later on Sunday evening against Kevin 'Keuschemisch' Berg from ZSC ESports for the inclusion in the German national team.

Strong comeback in best-of-3 finals

In the best-of-3, Knoll first had to accept a 3-4 defeat. After that he fought back impressively and celebrated the comeback with 3-1 and 4-1. While 'Cpt_DiryDangler' takes over the PlayStation side, the German Xbox representative is no stranger either.

Kevin 'Kevinator-373' Würterle had won the eSpengler Cup in December 2021 - his biggest success so far. In the national qualifier on the Microsoft console, the player from Memmingen beat Boldi 'Boldi0429' Hámori smoothly 7-0 and delivered a first signal to the competition.

‚Kevinator-373' dominates the qualifier

Kevinator-373' also dominated the semi-final against Christian 'Pogopreusse' Kresse, winning 10-1 to enter the finals. There Würterle proved his offensive qualities once again: Opponent Alexander 'HCSupporters' Buhr didn't see any land with 2-5 and 1-8.

With the experienced eSports players 'Cpt_DirtyDangler' and 'Kevinator-373', Germany seems to be optimally prepared for the group stage of the IIHF eWorld Championship 2022 and for the big goal of the semi-finals, which was missed in 2020.
